This is Dan’s inspiring story…
I was first diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis back in 2012, this was after a few months of losing blood daily, being fatigued and not having a clue what was happening to my body.
Every year from that point I spent around 1-2 months in hospital, having all sorts of magical medicines to try and keep me in remission.
Unfortunately in 2017, after a particularly bad flare I had no choice but to have emergency surgery to have my large intestine removed and a stoma fitted.
At the time this devastated me and I really struggled to come to terms with what was happening, this sadly caused me to have a complete mental breakdown and I was treated by my community mental health team.
However, one day something switched in my head.
I woke up with a purpose and a desire that I hadn’t had before – to help other people struggling break that cycle and show that anything is possible.
I’ve always enjoyed helping people and get satisfaction from watching others grow, so I decided to get back into the gym and document my fitness journey.
The ultimate goal is to help inspire others who are struggling with mental or physical illness and show them they aren’t defined by their condition.
We’re all stronger than we think
