Hi I’m Ollie (aka Thekidwithabag) 18 years old and this is my story.
In January 2020 I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I was given one pill to keep it under control however, this was not the case… A few weeks later I fell incredibly ill: missing school and time with my mates and was emitted into hospital for the first time. After a week in the hospital, I got better luckily.

This again happened in April (the peak of COVID) Despite the multiple pills I was taking every day nothing seemed to be working. In hospital for over a week I luckily got better again.
At this point having surgery was increasingly more likely… as I was continually in and out of hospitals.
Having many tests, procedures and discussions with numerous doctors, having my colon/large bowel removed was the necessary next step for me.
Having said that in June 2020 my colon was removed by an amazing team at St Marks Hospital, which saved my life. Now over two years post op I feel like my life has been given back to me.
