Are you having someone stay over who suffers from Crohn’s disease? Or you’re cooking dinner for a friend or family member and need some help?
First off, It’s really important that you remove any trigger ingredients that the individual might react to (this includes anyone who suffers from IBS or IBS – and gluten if they’re coeliac) for example; chilli, dairy (butter), tomatoes etc. So, please ask if they have any trigger foods prior to hosting. The last thing you want to do is include an ingredient that could potentially react in a bad way, causing that individual to be in a lot of pain and discomfort for the rest of the night/ next day or even weeks.
Low residue meals are also a very good option for those suffering from active IBD (if they have any strictures, inflammation, undergone recent surgery or have an ostomy) which means limiting the amount of fibre you’re including, so, I’d recommend cooking fish (easy to digest and a great source of protein) or if vegan, a stew with tofu would go down a treat – both of these meals can be found on our store page here. Meals don’t have to be boring, they can still be luxurious and taste absolutely amazing, as ours do!

Soups and broths are also great options if they’re on a liquid diet. You can find lots of different flavours, high in protein and undoubtedly delicious on our store page here
The main priority is to make sure your guest is comfortable. Get a hot water bottle ready, just-in-case! Don’t pressure them into drinking alcohol as this is a huge trigger for lots of IBD patients and try to not overthink everything.
